Get to know me…

All my life I have been passionate about movement. I grew up in Australia with a love for dancing and horse riding, both of which I was competitive in. When I reached high school I had to choose between dancing and riding in order to have enough time for my schoolwork, and as I had a very talented pony at the time, I chose horse riding.

In my early teenage years I achieved numerous state and national titles in dressage, which motivated me to move to Europe to ride professionally at age 16. For 10 years I lived between the UK and Europe, training with some of the world’s best dressage riders and competing internationally. I always considered myself, like my horses, an athlete, so I have spent a large amount of time working with personal trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, and pilates and yoga teachers so that I could be the rider my horses deserved.

Amongst all the different types of training I had, the mind and body connection that yoga gave me gave me the best results in both my sport and my life. Due to a great teacher that honoured the physicality of yoga, I appreciated the times in class where I could dig deep and feel my body working (what I was used to!), and learned how to let it rest and release (which felt very foreign!). Yoga taught me how to balance my fiery, ambitious energy with a more easeful, soft energy, and this not only had a huge impact on my body (less injuries!) but also facilitated deep psychological changes that helped me manage the anxiety I carried with me as a professional sportsperson running a business. The changes in my riding technique were noticeable too - I can’t tell you how many people commented while I was riding that I looked like I had grown taller, or they expressed the desire to be able to “sit tall” the way I did. This new way I was carrying myself - tall and proud - was not just physical but also psychological, and was caused by yoga.

I was already coaching dressage riders at this stage and I felt the need to share this practice with them - it felt like a secret weapon! In 2016 I did my yoga teacher training, and from 2017 I have been teaching in gyms, yoga studios, and even converted a large room in my home into my own yoga studio. Over my years of teaching and practicing, I have fine-tuned my style to be the most beneficial for the general population as possible, which means I don’t stick to just the traditional yoga methods. I have found that focusing on strength and mobility is more beneficial than just guiding people towards being more flexible. Many people have tight muscles, but they also need to strengthen their muscles and to develop a better posture in order for the body to feel safe to let go of tightness. I am proud to have helped many people - riders and non-riders - feel more comfortable and at home in their body, and I’m glad they find yoga just as transformational as I did.

In recent years a tide of change in career was inspired by experiencing the quieter lifestyle that Covid lockdowns forced, Brexit making going to Europe for training difficult, and meeting my lovely husband. I felt the need to trade in the intense and hectic life of an international dressage rider for a career path that felt more aligned with who I had become heading towards my 30s. Whilst my love for horses was unwavering, my desire to ride and compete in dressage had dwindled. Slowly I began the process of winding down my business and selling some horses, and now I have just 4 horses - my gorgeous golden oldies who are living a luxurious retired life.

I had continued my fitness and strength training throughout all this time, so in 2024 I began my personal training qualifications. Now, in 2025, I teach yoga full time and I will be qualified as a personal trainer in the summer. I will also be doing my pilates certification this year, and with all these skills combined I can provide a well-rounded service of multiple fitness and wellness offerings, rooted in many years of experience. I don’t believe there is one holy grail type of exercise to feel fit and well - your body and mind need a combination of movement styles to reach their best functionality. To facilitate this, my home yoga studio is being remodelled to accommodate 1-1 and small group PT, circuit training, yoga and pilates classes, and is expected to open this summer!

I hope you enjoyed getting to know me, and I can’t wait to get to know you too! Join me in a class and let me help you feel strong, mobile and free in your body.
